The Provisional Now

This ongoing body of work started in 2018 as a response to social, cultural and personal disruption and anxiety. I use the framework of the home interior to ground the paintings in a familiar domestic space, one roiled by instability, chaos and change.  As institutional structures grow ever more unstable, my process literally breaks down images and reforms them amid a flurry of forces.  The titles often allude to weather and natural forces.  I’m interested in creating tension and I hope my paintings reflect the struggle to reconcile stability and beauty with spontaneity and discovery.  Is it possible to use creativity to navigate a situation that seems out of our control?
